Default 4.7 HP mods and discussion

First off, I don't expect everyone to agree with everything. Please keep in mind that this is a post on possible ways to squeeze out more power, and there is more than one way to skin it...

I'm an going to be doing a bit of a project build on one of my Durango's and welcoming ideas on ways to do it... it is a 02 4.7 Sport edition.

Things that have already been done are:
K&N intake kit
70mm throttle body

Now here are some of my ideas:
HO cams
Roller rockers
Shorty headers
3in exhaust
Functional scoop hood
Electric fan (removing the clutch fan)
SCT tune

And then here are some split decision ideas:
Sullivan intake manifold or Ford 4.6 L intake manifold (both require adapters)

With the Ford intake, I could get an M112 supercharger, but will probably need to swap out my rods, pistons, as well as injectors and reroute fuel rails and several sensors.. (personally I don't like Ford lol)

So what are some thoughts?

Even if you don't have a ton of power, its usually a good idea to upgrade from the very common 3.55 gears. Those things really bottleneck any power you make.

If you want any real power do a hemi swap. Otherwise you're wasting money looking for power you just won't get from bolt on mods.

It does have the 3.55 rear end, and that was another idea that I forgot to mention. I've read that moderately modified up to about 400 hp the 3.92 diff works well, and over 500 the 4.10 works even better. As far as the hemi swap, it is an option, but I would like to keep the project with the 4.7

Well if you're absolutely set on the 4.7, then I would probably suggest some 4.1s. Going up to a 3.92 isn't really worth the cost coming from a 3.55. Also, if you have 4x4 then you have to do the front as well if you ever plan on using 4 wheel. You may end up getting stuck at 3.92s, but they are still far better than the 3.55s.

Also, if it means anything to you, my truck now has 3.92s front and back with a rear factory Limited Slip, and the 2014 model is pushing out 395HP at the crank and around 410 Ft Lbs.

This durango is only 2wd, so no need for the front end. I haven't looked at the newer models to scrape some ideas off them yet, I'm still in the formulating stage of this idea.. lol

Why suggesting such a steep gear? 4.10s seems a bit much..

And do the 14's really pump out 395hp? My '12 pumps out 382 I think that's a interesting bump as it sounds like its all factory tuning.

I'm only suggesting the 4.1s because the Durangos are so damn sluggish. 3.92s are a decent all around gear though.

And yes, here's the link.
