truck dead. Won't take a jump, not making any sort of clicking sounds.
I have a 99 Durango. I had to get it jumped several times in the past few weeks, then last night I started it, went to the gas station, turned the truck off went inside, then when I came back out it wouldn't start. AGAIN. So I pulled out my little jumper box thingy and it still wouldn't start. Even got someone to hook their SUV up to mine, and still it won't start. After a few mins hooked up, my dome lights came on, but truck still wouldn't start. And I don't hear the clicking noise when I try to start in either. Not sure how to figure out if its the alternator or starter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You should get a new battery and really check your terminals. Clean them up good with a terminal brush and install on the new battery. I prefer the Duralast Gold series from Auto Zone with their 8 year warranty and decent price for what you’re getting.
Usually a 1998-1999 will click midway under the dash if it's just a bad connection.

The same bunch of guys have always worked at the autozone here, so I'd much rather deal with them versus the consistently useless *** clowns at walmart. Plus I got a $20 in store credit with my autozone rewards card for buying the battery, so it winds up being cheaper than walmart anyway.
Get a new battery. You probably have a shorted cell....so it wont take a charge even with jumpercables on it.....you could try disconnecting the batter completely and jumper it to a good batt and see if you have lights.
My Mustang GT had the same issue with its battery (original 7 years old) ...two dead cells....when it went the last time I couldnt jump it either. Replaced it...and it starts like a champ now.
