Got a 2000 dodge Durango tranny has no reverse, friend wrecked his 99 durango rebuilt the tranny short time ago. I wanna swap em out but need to ask you guys if thr two trannys will just interchange without issue due to the electronics inside them...any and all thoughts appreciated.
What motor was behind the 99? Motor in yours? 5.9-46RE and 5.2-44RE. They will all bolt up, but the 44 won't hold up as well if yours came with the 5.9. And, if you have the 4.7, you are SOL. They only came out starting in 2000, no way his 99 has the tranny that goes with it.
I'm fairly sure that at the worst you might have to switch some sensors over from your transmission to the other one, but I'm fairly sure they're identical.
If you don't have reverse but you have all forward gears. I would remove the pan and inspect the reverse servo and a missing strut. Or you can get a 300 psi gauge and hook into the line pressure port for reverse and see how much pressure you have.
