Default 1998 5.2l chugging

Hey
I my 1998 durango seems to run fine when it's cold but after the truck is warmed up and it is turned off and you start it up again for a few minutes it chugs and can't get above 40km/h then after a couple minutes of the chugging
It seems to clear itself up until you turn it off and it starts all over again. Thought there might be a bad coil or wire but did a tune up and it is still there.
Any thoughts anyone?

Had the exact same problem with two Mopars I have owned BUT they were a pre PCM 1986 318 car and a 1989 360 Ram van so this may not apply to your Durango. It was worn distributors (internal problems) now I believe our Durangos engines get ignition advance from the PCM not vacuum like my previous car/van. Probably of no help but info never hurt anyone best of luck.

It has validity on the 5.2L, 5.9L, and 3.9L motors of the 1st generation Durango. Yes you are correct it is PMC controlled so it still could be a bad distributor or contact. It most likely is your spark plugs or your throttle body. Replace the plugs with cheapo Champion Copper plugs gapped at .040

Next buy 2 cans of Throttle Body or Carb Cleaner and a get and old tooth brush. Remove the Throttle Body from the engine and clean out every port making sure to clean out the IAC area really good. When you take it off make sure you clean it good but DO NOT push on it. It works as a plunger and you will damage it. Get it all replaced and do a reset.

It also could be a bad IAC valve.
