the other day I couldn't figure out why I had no tail lights dash lights or tag light but I figured that out and got the right fuse changed. anyways now it did it again. fuse is blown and put a new one in and it worked but now there is a burning plastic smell. what could this be? and it looks like its melting the fuse box in that spot. I don't know whats going on with this dang truck someone please help

 

Do you have a trailer harness plugged in by chance? On time water got in the plug of mine and kept shorting the fuse.

 

Or water in turn signal light or tail lights.

 

It smells like burning wires and its melting the fuse slot. No trailer. Could it be a stereo?

 

Not unless the stereo is on that circuit in the fuse box.

 

You have a short to ground most likely some water in one of your turn signals or brake lights.

If you have a tow package installed you have a female trailer plug on the rear of your truck. You can disconnect the female plug by looking behind it and there is a red lock you pull out then pull the harness off. See if the issue stops and if it does replace the female plug, you need to go to a dealership for the plug.

 

Happened to me when my trailer harness came in contact with the exhaust pipe, and melted through the wires.
