Eh just tow with it. You’ll be fine.

Worst case your truck takes a dump and you can just go buy another for $3k.

Heck, I’ll even sell you mine!!

You wont have any problem pulling it out of the water, you would only possibly have a problem with overheating the trans if you were pulling hard for a long time like up long inclines.

I still wouldn't worry to much. The first four years I had mine there was a piece of cardboard in between my radiator and condenser. Didn't know it til my fan clutch went out and I got to investigatin'. I towed for hours in 95 heat without it overheating. Adding a trans temp gauge never hurt anyone though.

Ok, I think I'm just gonna go with it and install a new trans temp gauge. Can anyone tell me if there is a test port or something like that on the transmission where I can install the sensor at?

I'd guess you'll have to put it in the cooler line going to the cooler.

Don't bother with the gauge, just make sure to turn overdrive off...

I tow my Moomba LSV 21 foot all the time with 3.92 gearing, no issues with the ramp, except for the 10-11 mpg....

The MOST important thing is to get trailing towing insurance!!!

I had breakdown a few years back and after having everything towed home the bill was $600+.

Boat US has unlimted trailer towing insurance that coves this, unfortunately I had signed up for the free one which only covers $50? They'll also find a towing company for you, very few tow companies will deal with a boat. Your regular insurance doesn't cover any of this...

When I wanted to address trans cooling, I popped for a finned aluminum B&M trans pan, which obviously helps cooling, but also has a 1/8" NPT port for the gauge sensor. Some may say that's not the best spot to measure temp (a smidge cooler than might be elsewhere), but it still lets you know whats going on.

Hi Don, do you by chance have a part # for this pan, or know where I can get one?
