Default Plasti Dip (PlastiDip) on Grey Bumpers & Fender Flares

Has anyone had any experience of using Plasti Dip (PlastiDip) on the Durango Grey Bumpers or Fender Flares?

Curious to know if the "texture" on there will cause any issues with application or adherence.

I have checked out many videos on YouTube and threads on this forum, but none address the Grey Bumpers or Fender Flares. i see a lot regarding badges and wheels, and even the entire vehicle. I was thinking about possibly doing this MOD to bumpers and flares on my 2003 SXT.

Thought I would experiment with the door handles as those are Grey too. Nice thing about having a Black "D" is that is one of the PlastiDip colors (unlike many other "D" colors). Cheap way to go from SXT to "SLT".

If all goes well, and I think it would look right, I would consider doing the wheels as well (Black on Black) Currently running Chrome Wheel Skins, but the 2013-14 Winter in MI looks like it was rough on them. In hindsight, I should have pulled them off and stored them over the Winter.

I haven't used it on the durango, but I have used it on other projects. Key things to remember are that it is absolutely not permanent. It does not do well with gas (almost disolves instantly). Despite the youtube videos and DYC videos, to my usage will show wear and tear i.e. if you're in the woods or trails those stray twigs and branches or rocks flung up will eventually pull some off. In my opinion it's great to experiment with to see different options but not a viable choice for extended usage. Plus it gets expensive redoing pieces a couple times over.

I used it on the side steps on my durango. I sprayed the whole thing, the textured black plastic that you step on and the body colored section that touches the rest of the car. It made the black part look new since it had faded to nearly gray in the sun. I have had minimal peeling on the edges of the black plastic section, but I think thats mostly due to the fact that I heard 4 coats would be enough, and 6 is the currently accepted number of coats. I've had no peeling on the body colored section, and they look fantastic. I have also planned to do the rims and maybe the bumpers below the indented line, but i havent gotten around to it yet.

I use plasti dip on my wiper arms and leaf springs (they flex) it all holds up well. Three years on the durango. One year on the fusion.

I'm gonna have to add wiper arms to the list of things to plasti dip then, cause mine look awful from the sun or whatever. Didnt even think about using plasti dip.

Thanks for the pics. Helps to see a finished product. I was thinking of not doing the "tread" part, but now looking at yours, I might just do the whole thing.

Yours are holding up to Foot Traffic I assume?

The foot tread part looks great, still as intact as the day I sprayed it. I did have slight peeling, but only along that bottom edge, and it wasnt all the way through to the original color.
My only problem with black plastidip on the steps is that mud shows up very easily, and the section just behind my front tire might be stained, if thats possible.
I say go for it. If you dont like it, then you can always peel it off, thats the magic of plastidip.
Btw, let the plastidip set for at least 24 hours before you step on it.

Yeah, I like to do the wiper arms because the flat black helps cut down reflection a lot. And it helps kinda hide the wiper arms to begin with.

Same thing with leaf springs and hitch in the back. flat black looks a ton better than surface rust. And it flexes which is a huge plus.

On my last truck I plasti-dipped the hood in the winter time. Made driving at night with snow storms much easier. Absorbed more heat during the day and helped cut down glare during the night.
