Default Shaking 70 MPH and above 1999 4x4 5.9

Hey Everyone,

Seems like I only post when I have issues, kinda sucks! Either way , I drove my durango to work today which was about 100mile round trip and noticed that above 70 the truck would vibrate quite a bit. The Steering wheel would move up and down, the set bucklet shook quite a bit (only thing in video I could use to illustrate it) and rear seats all shook. I had the tires balance a few days ago as I had noticed the problem about a week ago. Any suggestions on what to check?

I had a vibration at about that speed that turned out to be tires (even though they were balanced), but it wasn't that bad. Was is all of the sudden that it happened? I'd guess you might have lost a weight on one of the driveshafts or something.

I dont drive it much but it was pretty steady. Where do you get the shafts balanced at?

Not sure really. If you look at them you might be able to see weld marks where a weight came off.

Driveline shops will balance them, but like that guy stated get under it and look for a spot where a welded on weight could have came off. They usually do a slight weld on each side of the weight which you will see, but the weight will be gone.

Could have broken a band on a tire, they really can't see that on a balancer.

See if you can get one of your buddies to pull along side of you at that speed and see where it is coming from.

Seams like a front tire is out of balance.
You could rotate the tires front to rear and see if the vibration moves.
If it dose have the tires checked.
If you have a vibration at speed that come and goes at a consistence speed it is mostly the tires balance.

I just had a friend drive next to me while looking at my tires. He noticed the rear passenger tire had a lot of movement. I am about to swap front to rear and see if it moves, if it does i suppose bad rim?

I just moved the rear passenger tire to the front and front tire to the rear. After I swapped it I had my friend look at the tire however he didnt see any weird movement. I still felt the vibration. I picked up an extra rim from the junk yard as one of my rims had about 3.5 oz of weight on the outside lip.

Have you tested it on other radio stations? That Country crap will screw with a lot of things.

If it still has the problem on Classic Rock stations, I'd relax my brain and just get the wheel/tires balanced at a shop. Let them tell you whats bad.
