Default Led Switchback Issues

So I want to see what you guys think about my problem. I have white leds for my front turn/park lights and in my state it's illegal to have anything but amber or red turn signals so I thought I'd put switchbacks in so I don't get pulled over. Now my problem, it doesn't matter if I have one switchback in or two or three or all of them in when I hit the either turn signal in addition to the turn part of the bulb flashing for the respective side, the parking lights all around the vehicle flash and the dash illumination lights flash with the turn signal. And the transmission relay clicks when the lights illuminate. I was pouring over wiring diagrams and found that the alternator feeds the transmission relay directly and I dad an output test on my alternator and had a max output of 91 amps for my 136 amp alternator so I must have a diode that has failed to allow current flow in both directions, which would partly explain the clicking relay but there has to be more. Just want to see if anyone has experienced a similar phenomenon.

Long story short, you you go from incandescents to leds the current can do all kinds of weird things due to the nature of how leds operate. I was in progress of investigating the same issue myself, but never got around to it yet. What I was planning on doing was installing load resistors (in parallel to leds) to absorb some of the "phantom currents" that normally would have been absorbed by the filament bulbs. You could give that a try.

I have white leds in with load resistors already and they work fine but aren't exactly legal and the turn is hard to see because it's the same color as the park light. I do have quite a few aftermarket electrical accessories wired in so I think I have to completely disconnect all of them and go from there, see if the issue is in the factory wiring or my wiring.

Dodge has a weird wiring system. Long story short to a hard explaination, the current is put through some grounds too. I played with LEDs for a long time, have them everywhere. I got problems with the interior lights blinking with my turn signals, and both lights front and back blinking (did not matter which turn signal I used). I tried many resistors too. Nothing fixed the problems, so I took the LEDs out and swapped back to incandecents. I loved the look of LEDs, but didnt want the hassle anymore. I think the incandescents are clean too though. So in turn, I did the blinker mod, and swapped in a 921 on the outter corner. Makes a hell of a difference and looks cool as ****.

see if this link works for the video.

Yeah it seems like sticking with incandescent is what you have to do, unless you feel like adding in a bunch of relays to turn the led bulbs on and off using the stock wiring just to signal the leds, and even that might not work.

What exactly is this blinker mod? I went ahead and added a 921 bulb to the unused part of the turn signal housing that's next to the headlights. I was concerned with the 921 bulb melting the sidemarker housing being on all the time if I would have wired it to be in opposite phase with the turn signal.

Link didn't work for me either. I've swapped out every bulb in my D with leds and I only have problems when I use these switchbacks. that_guy, just wondering how fun was it to put those projectors you put in your headlight housings? I did the projector retrofit in a new pair of Depo single piece headlights and I swear they used concrete to seal the lens, about 7 hours just to install the projectors.

hmmm, that sucks. I need to upload it to youtube.

You did that? My clears dont have the ability to add any in, I would like to though. And the mod is having the corner light blink opposite the turn signals and hazards, but stays on with the running lights. Basically its the "party lights" that chevy, older dakotas, and some jeeps have. I like having all the lights blink.

I also am wanting the projectors. I need to fork the money over for the set though :/

Just added a couple pics of my projectors to my profile. I think those would look cool. Actually the cost of mine were around $75 for the pair from ebay. I'm running a 55w vvme kit and the projectors are awesome and incredibly bright and no bubbling chrome from the projector after 9 or so months.

Wow after reading this i feel really blessed that my LEDs worked fine. I just installed new headlights with LED turns yesterday.

These ones that I have now were a bit of a challenge because the projectors I used (FX-Rs from the retrofit source) were bigger than the headlight pretty much. The smaller mini projectors I had before just threaded right in.

The lenses themselves came off pretty easy on these two piece ones and the one piece ones I had for a while.
