Default Anyone have experience with Accurate Engines?

We have an 02 Durango with the 4.7 Magnum that we were rebuilding but some of the parts it needs replaced might make it more cost effective to buy a new engine. Hubby was looking at Accurate Engines and was talking to the guy but when I looked them up all I'm finding are bad reviews. I hate to burst his bubble but does anyone here have any experience with them?

They are not an accredited BBB Business......look it up and see why.

If I recall correctly, this is the company that did some engine work for a co-worker in college. It did not go well for him.

Are you in the West MI area?

No we are in Northern California. I think I upset the hubby by telling him that even though the guy he talked to was "going on" about being a Christian and even though he got a good feeling from the guy the shop does not seem to be on the up and up.

What are some good resources then for either engines or parts? One head is bad and a rod is broken, plus the crank is cracked. Are there parts from other model 4.7 Dodge's that will work with this engine?

the 4.7 was used in years 2000-2009 for the Durango http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_PowerTech_engine (and 2000-2011 for the Dakota) so lots have been made. Might be able to find one at a salvage yard with some life in it.

How would I find out which parts are interchangeable? Engine wise I know that we had to look for 32 tooth versus 16 but a mechanic told us the 4.7 we had found in a Jeep wouldn't work.

I am pretty sure they were talking about a 4.7 HO. You would need to find a 32 tooth bottom end and use your intake and accesories, but I believe the long block would be the same. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I work part time at advanced auto parts and the spartan/atk motors we carry have been a great seller and have not had an issue with commercial or diy customers thus far in the 3 years I have worked week ends there. not cheap but qaulity never is. still 5000 and up is not peanuts for the 4.7 engine.
