Default key/door lock

hey ppl my truck key for some reason now wont unlock any of my doors but will work in the ignition. wat would I need to do to get my key to work for both or do I need to have two keys one for each.

If it worked and then quit working chances are the key has worn down and no longer moves the tumblers properly. If it never worked though the locks might have been changed at some point, as one key should open everything.

ok ill then try getting a new door latch and try from there

I'd try getting a new key cut first. If you replace the door latch you will need two keys.

I tried by getting a new key and that didn't work

A new key copied from your current one, or a new key cut from the code by a dealer? If you just had the old worn out one copied it won't be any better for obvious reasons.

ya I had it made from the old key so I should just go to the dealer 2 get it fixed

The dealer will be able to cut you a new key based on your key code (can be determined with your vin or sometimes by looking at the key). Not sure how much it would cost there though. There's a guy over at dakota-durango.net (might be here too) that works for a dealer and cuts keys from code for about $6 shipped, so you might want to shoot him a message. http://www.dakota-durango.com/forum/...d.php?t=331426 I got one from him not too long ago.

thanx bro for telling me bout that guy he was able 2 send me a new ignition cylinder so now the key works for both the door locks and ignition.
