Exclamation 2000 5.9L Running rich

Starts ok, smells rich. Runs ok but idles poorly and runs rich. No cel or codes.

So far:
New battery
New cap and rotor
New MAP sensor
Newer Accel super coil
Newer copper plugs
Newer 8mm plug wires
Plug wires re-routed
No sign of plenum gasket failure

I'm at a loss...help!

Do you have an OBD reader? If so you could take a look at the throttle position, timing advance, and so on and maybe get an idea of what's going on.

Not one that does more than read codes. I get the P0300 misfire.

The auto part stores don't loan them either.

Any other suggestions or do I need to get someone with a scanner to look at it?

Have you reset the computer since you changed that sensor?

Yes, disconnected the battery and turned key to ignition spot for 30 seconds.

This is frustrating as we need this vehicle but I can't afford to get it professional help.

Thanks.

So does it drive without stumbling when cold then? I ask because when the engine is cold it runs under closed loop where the computer controls fuel mixture based solely on its programming, whereas once warm it uses information from the 02 sensors.

And since you said it seems like its running rich I think that could eliminate a lack of fuel pressure.

Won't the O2 sensors set a code when out of range?

It won't necessarily throw a code. I'd be suspicious of the precat 02 sensor. Possibly even a clogging catalytic converter.

This thread seems to be similar to your issue: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...s-problem.html
