Default Cheap Lifts?

I have a 2000 Durango SLT 4x4 that I offroad on a regular basis. I'm looking for a cheap way to lift my baby so I can stuff some more rubber under there . I'd like to go to 33's all around, but the ability to go bigger is better. What's the best way to do this?

I'd like to avoid a body lift if at all possible, but I may be able to be convinced .

If you wanna go cheap you're gonna have to do a body lift. Suspension lifts for the Daks and Durangos is expensive because of the set-ups and the small availibility. I believe just like the Daks, Rancho is the only company that make one for our vehicles. It runs just about 1,400 bucks. [:@] A body lift is 200. But it's all up to you. Good luck.

What about the Tuff Country 5.5" lift? It runs about the same price (a little more) than the Rancho lift, and will allow 33"s?

If I'm spending $1500-1700, should I just look into cramming a Dana 44 solid axle up front?

Well if you're asking if you should stuff a solid axle up front it sounds as if you are going to be doing some wheeling so if thats the case I would stay away from the Tuff County lift. It does lift the truck 5.5 inches but its strictly for show and regular road use. I know a bunch of guys who have said its useless for wheeling. I would stay away from it.

I have the 5.5 lift and a 3 inch body lift and 2 inch shackle/torsion lift . Out of all of those choices... the shackle/torsion lift is the cheapest. approx. $50.00 for the rear spring shackles. It will give you about 1.5 inches of lift. I don't think that will clear 33's though. Everyone is right about the 5.5 Tuff Country lift. It is NOT strong and needs to be tightened up regularly. It does not allow alot of wheel travel when wheeling. The cheapest way to clear 33's is the body lift. It DOES make your DD look really cool though! Don't you think? Oh.... and those are 35's
