Default Power window problems

Please help. Passenger side window will go down but not up. Replaced the motor and still nothing. I can hear the motor trying when I hit the window button down and nothing with the up. I have a power tester and there is power going to the down wire but nothing to the up wire. Tried new switches in the passenger side door and still not working. Checked the wires and none are damaged. Just no power going to the up part of the switch.

Also when I got the new motor the window part was up so hooked it up outside the door to put it down for easier installation but wouldn't go back up again. So I know down works just not up.

Odd you chose to buy a new motor without know if it was the motor or not. Throwing new parts at a problem is never the best approach.

All power for the windows goes to the driver door. The driver door switches control all the windows. The output feeds from the driver switch, whether being pressed or not, is what feeds the other three doors. It's possible for the driver door switch to be the problem with any window.

you need to buy the complete window regulater with motor, not just the motor, also they usually put the wrong mating gear on the motor if you bought an aftermarket motor...

So your 'fix' is buy even more stuff without actually knowing what is causing the problem? The motor is just a two wire thing. if you test it with gnd and +12 on the bench, swapping the leads will reverse the motor. If that works, the motor is fine. Saying, "The motor doesn't run, so it's a bad motor." is nuts.

The motor works. Like I said the replacement one was up when I got it so had to hook it up before installing it in the door to put it down and it went down but not back up. I used a light tester to test the wires and the wire that controls down has power but the wire that controls up does not..

sorry, i misread the first post, its sounds like you need to test the continuity of the window button (switch) before you go any further..

I also tried a new switch and that wasn't the problem either. I didnt try a new main switch panel on the drivers side tho.

Will the passenger side window work from either switch?
