I have an '01 5.9L RT and have a chance to pick up a '99 5.9L with a blown trans fairly cheap as a parts truck. Haven't had a chance to go look at it yet. Are there any major differences between these 2 years? Is the '99 an AWD like my '01? Thanks in advance!

 

Mechanicals will be more or less the same. Biggest difference there is a manual vs electrically shifted transfer case. Just like in 01-03, there were different transfercase options. The nv242 has the full time 4wd option. The other differences are mostly electrical and cosmetic.
