Post NV244 Transfer Case Leaking - Hard to Identify Which Seal from Factory Parts Manual

Hi everyone,

Hoping I could get some input on which seal is leaking on my 2001 5.9 Durango with NV244 Front Transfer Case. I noticed black fluid slung from the front of my transfer case. I changed the fluid back in the summer, ATF4, not sure why the fluid is black. Anyways I have the factory parts manual but can't for the life of me figure out which seal it is. The Factory manual drawing is tiny when it comes the the front part.

It's the CV joint on the driveshaft that is blowing grease. Probably easiest to just replace the shaft.

HeyYou, Thanks for the fast reply!! now I found the correct diagram. 05015109AA is the number for the bolts can't seem to find just the end.

I have had a horrible sound going up hills and inclines, could this be the cause of the sound below? I can only hear it when I am moving so its been hard to pin point. This is the first time I see the leaking.

Holly crap just looked up the complete shaft almost $300 bucks. So now it makes sense I see grease and not ATF4 flung on the walls. Assume these are factory lubed?

Lotsa noises going on there..... it *might* be from the driveshaft..... I have no idea if the joints on those are rebuildable... Probably wouldn't hurt to call around. Is that 300 bucks for a shaft from mopar? Or from the parts store? (should be some cheaper ones on the market.)

For the video, is your truck in all wheel drive mode? Or just rear??

I added the updated parts diagram. Looking online at rock for the shaft. Mopar online is something like 500+. I am going to put a gocamera under there today, noise is driving me crazy and last thing I want is it to break on me. Wonder if I can disable the awd and just use the rear till I fix this.

My truck is a 5.9 RT 4x4 AWD NV244.

Yeah the sound has been intense.

Well I did also just find this. "APWI CH5303 {#932303, P52853431AA, P52853432AA}
Front; 4WD; Propeller Driveshaft CV Joint"

Seems like an easy job, I was thinking of changing the universal joint on the other side of the shaft. Wondering how to figure out the size of the universal. Nothing in the parts manual.

Parts store should be able to just hand you one. (of course, they will want money in exchange......) No better time to change it than when you already have the shaft out. Could always pull the shaft, pull the joint, and take it with you to the parts store.
