I get low fuel light after driving 270 miles on 4.7 durango. I go to the gas station fill her up and only 16 gallon goes in..... do I have some aftermarket tiny tank or something. I read that its 03 4.7 suppose to have 24 gal,

Are you really only getting a little over 10mpg???? That seems terrible for the 4.7 in a Durango......

Go here and generate a build sheet. It will tell you your gas tank size. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...ur-dakota.html

I get around 15-16 mpg in heavy Atlanta traffic, with my 4.7. Guy who sold it to me was getting around 9 mpg. I found the plug tips were almost completely worn off, when I pulled them.

i belive the standard tank was like 16 or 18 gallons, the larger tank was 24, iv never seen a truck with the smaller tank, but they do supposedly exist.

I decoded vin and it says I should have 25 gal tank, but when I fill her up after getting low fuel light only 16 gal goes in. Would low fuel light come on when there 9 gal left???

No, not if all is well. I'd carry a spare gallon in a proper jug and drive it until it won't. Then dump in the jug, drive to the nearest gas, and fill it up. I suspect it's either the filler neck buggered and back barfing too soon, meaning you really do only have 16 when it's 'full', or the computer is buggered and sounding off early and you're just not using the last 9 you've been carrying around all along.

Think I would have more than one gallon on hand. Sometimes, that simply isn't enough to get it to run again.

generally no, but some systems have a dual trigger, 1/8 (or some other preset % of fuel) remaining in the tank or x miles to empty, and whichever pops up first will trigger the light. What does your gauge read when the light comes on?

Jumping in on this as well. Both my 2000 and 2001 Durango with the 4.7l eninge is getting around 16-17 mpg...the ID10T light pops on when the guage is below 1/8 tank...if I fill up then I can squeeze 19 gallons in the 25 gallon tank. Knowing my mpg and keeping the trip meter reset I can get 360+- miles per tank and put about 24 gallons in. My question being is there a way to recalibrate the low fuel sensor? Thanks in advance.
