I don't know why this is happening I have a 2002 dodge Durango 4.7 as I was driving home one day I smelt a bad stinky smell so I pulled over and popped the hood and saw white smoke coming from cylinder #2 so cut it off and started it back up and the smoke was gone until I got home so I popped the hood again and it was ever more smoke. I took out the coil pack and saw that it had burned on one side of it. Can anyone tell me what will cause that to happen
I doubt the issue is on the secondary (12v) side of the coil otherwise you'd have something fried in the computer. My guess is either the coil had some internal short on the primary (plug) side. Check the plug gap and condition of the insulator before replacing the coil.

so I check it all it is all okay so I went ND brought all new coil packs and spark plugs ND it's still heating up more than the other ones and on top of that the temperature gauge stays in the red I just replaced the thermostat and the thermostat sensor so I truly don't know what is wrong
