I'm fairly confident mine is fried, or I may have an diagnosed gremlin. I'm hoping someone is close and wouldn't mind allowing me to try theirs.

No real need to test with one. It's dead. I had one that kept giving an erroneous misfire code. bought one from a florida flood car pcm rebuilder (I use the "rebuilder" very loosely), it gave me a no bus code after about 10 minutes of driving, I sent it back, got another from them, it took 5 minutes for the no bus code this time. I got my money back and bought from another flood car outfit down there, it worked and has been for quite some time.
The board can crack and when cold make contact, heats up, expands and pow, no contact across board, no bus come on. finally it gets worse over time until it just sits and gives you the dead fish look. Bad contact at plug can do it as well.....doubt it though.
