Please help - Durango won't drive forward or in Reverse.
Hey everyone,
I'm interested in buying a 2000 Dodge Durango 4.7L automatic 4x4 but it won't drive. engine starts but it won't go forward or backwards in the forward "gears" or reverse. Also will not move in 4WD high or low. Another weird part about it is you don't even need to press the brake in to shift it out of park. It just stopped moving when the seller was on his way to work one day, just stopped moving and the engine just revved up, so he had it towed to his work place. He tried replacing the TCM, transmission solenoid, and neutral safety switch and none of those things fixed the issue. Anyone have any ideas as to what it could be?
Thanks,
-Moparman

there has been a trans on Chicago CL in a suburb called palatine forever, the guy says "tired of storing it" supposed to be good, down to a measly $70.... out of an 04 Ram pickup as I remember.... have yet to mess with anything 4.7 yet though I have never owned anything besides Mopar since I have been driving (mid 80s) but it was a something something something RFE transmission...… so far I have stuck with vehicles with the 500/518 ("RH/RE" series) transmissions...… and the 3 speeds that came before those. I know nothing about this advertised transmission, or the seller, that town is 100 miles north of me here in Illinois, just thought I'd mention it in case someone could use it... that sounds like a good price even if it was just a core, but it is supposed to be a good working unit.
**Update** He tells me he did not actually replace the neutral safety switch yet because it was too cold outside to do so and he left it on the seat for me for when I tow it. I purchased the Durango tonight for $850. So being he did not replace the neutral safety switch yet maybe there's a glimmer of hope that it is the problem?

Alright, I was just hoping there was a chance. There was fluid in it when I checked the other day but I didn't smell it and for all i know he could have put some in after the durango stopped moving.
