Question Leaking Coolant from Y-Adapter Heater core Hoses?

Hi all, I have a coolant leak coming from the passenger side y-adapter which I think is the heater core hoses. Seam is leaking where the hoses some how connect to it. Not sure how the hose is put in there. Wondering if anyone knew if that adapter was replaceable or I need to get complete hose and set. Think Dorman has kit 626-555 but it isn't cheap.

Maybe you can get a universal Y adapter and a roll of heater hose. Don't use worm screw clamps though, not on plastic. Use spring clamps. The screw clamps don't allow for heat expansion and it will eventually crack the plastic. Search the web and you might find a metal one...that will work with screw clamps.

Edit: Something like this.

Thanks for sharing, I would have never thought about the plastic expanding and its effect on the clamp. I think those hoses are different in size, was hoping to find a metal one like the one you posted but if they size is different it will be hard. I assume the dodge melted the hose onto the y-adapter or used some sort of sealant.

I was only giving you rough ideas. Pretty sure your hoses are 5/8". In which case, something like the link below should work. Heater hose is sold by the foot, or in six foot bagged lengths.

I just had to replace that assembly after the exact spot you showed leaking burst. i was lucky that I was close to home - but I had just completed a long drive - not a cheap part but worth the piece of mind that it's repaired correctly.

Reminds me of when I almost toasted my engine almost 7 hours from home, loaded to the hilt. Man....I still get the jitters.

That's honestly my worst nightmare. when I took a look at how fragile that plastic Y pipe is, I'm surprised it didn't blow earlier. Glad to replace it with the metal one. Also replaced my top hose - has some cracks close to the radiator fitting. I'll be checking the others more closely - but they look good so far.
