I was looking around to see if oil catch cans is good for our 5.9's? Will it help reduce the oily buildup on our throttle bodies etc... I searched the forums here for the 1st gen and found no topic on this.
I've had one on my 5.2 for several years. It catches stuff for sure. If you get a cheaper one without any baffling, throw some stainless steel wool in there.

It's not an ideal spot by any means, but it works. There was a stud there on the firewall already, so used some brackets that came with the can to mount it. A slightly shorter can wouldn't be a bad idea though. This one is resting on the breather elbow for the valve cover, and just about touches the hood (rubs on the liner). It does catch stuff though, so I think it's worth it. In the old days before epa regulations, the crank case fumes and oil would just vent to atmosphere. Making the engine burn the stuff was a compromise for emissions.
