Default Brake booster spacer

Ok, I admit it, I'm an idiot...

I replaced the brake vacuum booster on my 03 Durango 4.7 and didn't realize there was a spacer stuck on the old unit when I sent it back for the core charge. Everything bolted in nicely, with the exception of a broken brake line, which I replaced.

I didn't realize it as first, but when I went to test drive it, I noticed the brake pedal was 2 inches higher off the floor. I did a few google searches, and found out about the spacer. (see picture below with the spacer listed as #2)

I called a few junk yards, and even called the local Dodge dealer. No one knew what I was talking about. I even called the parts store I took the core back to, but it already got sent back.

I'm thinking about jury rigging a piece of 2x4 as a spacer, but wanted to see if you folks have come across this, and had any other suggestions

Thanks in advance!

See if you have a you pull it type of junkyard around. You may be able to find one easier that way.

Yeah go to a you pull salvage yard and get it yourself. Probably about the only way you'll get it reasonably

Yepper, that's what I had to do. Lesson learned.

Good news is he sold me the whole vacuum boost, spacer, and he threw in the master cylinder for $30. Not a bad deal.

Probably where you should have gone in the first place. I've got plenty of cheap (though genuine Dodge) JY parts on my truck and they're all functioning just fine. My alternator being the latest example.

Trick there is look for parts from wrecked vehicles. Odds are they were functioning until they got hit. Some parts make sense to get new, but so many aftermarket parts are complete dog**** made by people that don't give 2 ****s that they're not worth messing with.
