Default Puzzeled about wet floorboard?

liquid that is not dying up on floorboard at the foot of driver?
Is there some thing that could leak from the engine area into the cab.
I'm sorry to be absolutely devoid of any auto-mech. know-how.

I hope to save a trip to the expensive auto mechanic shop for their diagnosis.

Is it just water, or does it feel a bit oily?

I responded in the other thread as well, that solution will work if its just water... if it feels oily though, it's coolant, and that means heater core replacement. Not an inexpensive proposition.

Valid point.

On the drivers side, gotta be a door seal, or something under the hood.

I mean half genuine question, as my 98 has been in the garage for a week, and last night when i pulled the carpet up the drivers side is soaked, all ive touched it tearing the top end off, if opening the system allowed the core to leak, but passenger side bone dry

So far as I know, there is no avenue for liquids that ride around with the truck as they are supposed to, to get onto the drivers floor..... I would think it would necessarily have to come from an outside source.... but, having it collect water while sitting in a garage???? Now that one is indeed a mystery. Was it wet when you pulled it in??

I think there are some drains in the well where the wiper transmission and such are. There *might* be something that allows water into cab in that area......

Default Thanks for Response to my floorboard wetness question

Im in Austin and its rained every day since last Monday. I think my issue might be the gasket over the driver’s side window, which i need to push back into place often. It was loose last i paid attention, so this could be the simple answer to my ‘dumb’ question. Dumb especially considering i know the gasket is drooping.
i need to wait to see if it dries up or not. Plus i will sample it (sort of) to see if it’s oily or not.

Thank to both the wonderful folks that helped address my desire to know.

Im old and single so getting backup info is very nice. Thanks again. I do want to avoid asking Sun Auto my mech shop. Im unemployed, well retired and on a fixed income.

If it's coolant (heater core) it would have a sweetish smell and would likely leak on the passenger side. It would also cause the windows to constantly fog when you have them closed.
