Ignition switch woes
OK, got it running good!
99 Durango SLT Plus.
Going back over past problems.
My ignition switch horns (around the key) will turn the switch with or without the key.
It is also very tedious to get to exactly the right spot to pull the key to leave radio, etc off.
So, the truck could be stolen, and I drain the battery a lot.
Do I do both parts - cylinder and electrical switch?
Will cylinder require new keys to be carried?
Can new cylinder be adjusted to old key?
any advantage to OE parts or other brands?
This truck does have upgrade security, but the OE key is nothing special.
Does have a remote fob.

Not saying it's the same issue but I had occasionally some issues and going through the threads I found there was a grease , dirt , dust bunny haven gumming up the works..A couple of squirts of light lube cleaner and pulling the key in and out while wiping it off until it wasn't black anymore and another light spray direct on the key while working it in /out on/off cleared the operation up to where it was a non issue.. as long as you don't go crazy , then you'll you'll be having it running off from everywhere which only Will have to be wiped off......or was that my gear selector when it was cold and a pain to get out of park ? Either way it's worth a try..gl
