Durango transmission squealing
My buddy’s first gen Durango has been squealing from the trans. Originally he locked up the rear end and has now rebuilt that. After it made that noise and won’t move when in gear, it just shakes/shutters. Low gears don’t work either. Replaced torque converter and that didn’t do anything. Just not sure why it’s squealing. My best guess was he made the rear end too tight during rebuild and now can’t move which is why the shaking but no clue on the squeal sounds almost like a bearing inside going bad.
Need more information. Year and engine size. And is the transmission a 4X4? Was the rear end overhauled or the transmission? If the transmission is a 4X4 then put the transfer case in neutral and push the vehicle with someone to step on the brakes. Does it move. If it does then the rear end should be okay at this time. If it is 4X2 put the transmission in neutral and do the same. I didn't hear anything from the video.
