No door chime on 02 Durango SLT Plus? (First Durango I’ve owned)
Hello all, I recently picked up an 02 Durango SLT Plus as a winter rig/something different to drive other than my 01 ORE. I got it for a good price and needs a few simple things. I’ve had nothing but 2nd Gen trucks so I’m new to Durangos. I know absolutely nothing about the 4.7s as the 5.2s and 5.9s are only what I’ve had in my trucks. Anywho enough with the rambling, I noticed that when the key is in the ignition I have no door chime when I open it. Same goes if the lights are on and door is open. I’ve read a TON of posts on disabling this feature but none on how to fix it. I know at some point I’m bound to lock the keys inside with that chime not working. Knowing there is a module that makes the chime, is there something I have to reset on it? Or is the thing just not working? I looked at all my fuses and don’t see any blown or missing. It does have a remote starter on it and that can cause some funky gremlins with electrical. Never had a mopar that had no chime. Any advice would be super helpful! -Steve

The Central Timer Module (CTM) is under the drivers side kick panel. It controls all the chimes and timers, like headlight delay off, &c. Other than any tricks you may have found like 'key on/off three times while rubbing your forehead', only the dealer can change the programming with a special scanner. Even if you proclaim the CTM bad and swap it from a junk yard, a dealer would have to re-pgm the key fobs and maybe other things (like the one I swapped was country coded to Canada, so had DRLs active.

Some of the fancier scan tools that independent shops have may be able to do some of the settings that you normally need a DRB III (dealer scan tool) for, not sure if all of them though. My brother's snap on scanner was able to access some settings on my 99 like for the tire size, key fobs, etc. But the 99 computer system is entirely different than the 02.
