I see there are no threads about the Isofix on our 1st Gen. My children's seat wanders a little bit on the bench, I'd feel better if it would be firmly secured to an isofix anchoring.
I think it's not that difficult to make two brackets: I would weld a semi ring to one end and the make the hole for a screw on the other, then a bracket would be welded to both at 90° in order to make a frame. What I don't know (yet) is how the floor is, I shall drill it and then work it to make a thread inside for the screw (probably this is the most difficult step). The bracket might be Z shaped. I think it works. I've seen there are some universal solutions also on Amazon, but I haven't found one good for the Durango. Any help is welcome, thanks in advance, Sergio
The floor is just tamped steel. If you want a *real* anchor point, you will need to reinforce the area as well. Another plate of thicker steel, on the underside of the floor, that the anchor point bolts thru, would likely take care of it. But, use something pretty stout. 1/4 inch plate, or similar.
Today I installed the isofix. Bought on Amazon and adapted with a reverse mounting that holds it steady, although making the rear passenger’s life a bit tricky. I’ve also secured the top with a strap. See the pics The reverse mounting The lock The latch The lock in green position
