2000/5.9 one more thing to try.. No spark or fuel pump
I've been dealing with a problem when it gets to a certain temp, it'll shut down the engine. no spark, no fuel pump. Just crank.
I bought it late last summer, and it only quit on me 1 or 2 times, then winter set in. It ran flawlessly since. It's hard to diagnose something that doesn't set codes, or when the engine is running perfectly.
Last week, it warmed up enough return to it's issues; This time, I got "cam reference sensor signal lost @ pcm" engine would either die, or not restart until it cooled off, say, 1/2 hour with the hood open. So I replaced some stuff over the weekend.
Coil, cap rotor, and dist. pick up.
Seems to be keeping the trouble code off, but still the engine dies after its up to temp. When trying to restart, there's no fuel pump, or spark. Half hour later, it fires right up immediately. I do have a crank position sensor coming.. sounds like they work 'together' (cam and crank signal).
IF THAT DOESN'T CURE IT... I do have a rolled 2001 Durango given to me for parts. Same engine, Same trans, but has the full time 4X4 as opposed to my part time 4X4. Do I dare try that ECM from the 2001 to the 2000?
Another thing I'm not sure on, is the SKIM. The 2000 I'm trying to fix, only has a Ace Hardware duplicate key. Does this mean this 'rango wasn't equipped with the SKIM, or has this security system been deleted? It's had lots of owners before me.
If I have to come up with a rebuilt Ecm, I see there is an option to have the skim deleted before they send it out. No sense on doing it if the truck didn't come with it. How to tell?

I tried that other ecm.. fires right up, then dies. I supposed not having the right vin number had something to do with it..
I'll get the crank sensor swapped out soon as it arrives, and go from there.

Says in 1st post that it was replaced ("distributor pick up")

I've not personally dealt with this but I've read alot with the ASD relay going bad, would explain the fuel pump, but maybe not the spark issue? Like I said I haven't had to deal with one yet, just just a thought
