Fan blower motor
Okay, as our trucks are getting up in age. My fan blower motor has a mind of its own. During cool weather, no fan motor at all. When temps are hot outside, fan works. Odd... I came to conclude three things, either fan motor itself, blower resistor or fan relay. Those are the only three that governs turning on/off the blower itself. Blend door works, if I put in fresh air mode, air flows where it needs to be. Just no power to fan motor when outside is cool temps. Just wanted to see if anyone else had this similar issue and what the fix would have been.
I will start with the fan relay first as that is the cheapest and easiest of the 3 to replace. Might as well replace since all my components on my suv are still factory original and over 22 years old.

Captain obvious here. Things contract when cold and expand when warm...enough for electrical contacts to be broken or made. Easy enough to swap the relay with another, then replace it if that turns out to be it. Smack the fan assembly up under the dash next time it's not working. Just a few ways to narrow down the culprit.
Tested the stuff, still not finding what is causing the randomness of the fan not blowing when it not feel like it. Rule out it is not the relay, I tested it when blower decide to work, took out relay, no blower, reinsert relay, blower works. When blower not working, swapped relays with good one, no go.
My next thing to try is replacing the resistor that is located in a crappy spot in the dash on the first gen interiors on the 2000 model. 2001 is under the dash. Saw thru youtube, you can easily access this resistor from outside under the wiper area.
When the blower does work, it initially seems like it is running very slow, and then slowly ramp up its speed. I am hoping this is a resistor issue. When I turn off the blower, I can hear the blower slowly spinning down vs a fast lockup stop.
All wiring seems to be fine and no corrosion on the contact plugs atm.

Fan replacement: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...ml#post3524521, Mine ended up being a flaky fan motor...don't buy cheep on it...I did and it has an annoying squeak (I just turn the Heavy Metal up when it gets annoying for now
) I also robbed a resistor wire from the boneyard and extended it further into the cowl space to make it easier to replace in the future if necessary....don't believe the youtube as it being "easily access" from the outside unless you get very lucky, have strong fingers and are flexible like Gumby.Best of Luck
