I am just trying to see what my options are. This was my only vehicle and I was recently told by the shop that the head gasket is blown and that I need a new engine. if I am unable to find the correct year make and model… are there any engines that are compatible for a swap.? Currently looking at salvage yards because I have not been able to work in over a month because of this.

 

In 2003, some time during the model year, they went from a 16 tooth tone ring, to a 32 tooth tone ring. The two are NOT compatible..... So, safest bet is an 02 or older. I don't think it matters what it comes out of. (truck, durango, dakota...) Just use the tins and such from your motor.
