2003 Durango RT sluggish and blips in and out of OD
I just bought a 2003 RT as a summer tow vehicle. I had an RT years before. So it doesn't seem to have a ton of get up and go. I remember my old one had more power. It has 239,000 kms not miles on it . It has a rebuilt transmission with only 30ks on it. When I test drove it I went easy on the throttle which was my mistake. Just seems sluggish, hard shifting under load and also goes into OD out for a quick sec with a clunk then back in. Any ideas what I am looking at here? No CEL. Maybe a bad TPS or trans speed sensor? i have a speed sensor on order. Only $40 so I will throw that in but most likely it's something else. I just can't see it being toast after 30,000 kms?
Thanks in advance!

5.9l. I just put it in neutral to check the fluid level and it is whining buzzing and making sounds. Not in drive though

there was a 3 year on it but for the previous owner. I called the shop and was told to pound sand. I adjusted the TV cable and the noise disappeared but that could be because it warmed up. I also noticed when I gave it full throttle from a stop I heard what I think was pinging around 3500 rims before it shifted
Make sure the noise is actually gone.... If it is, don't worry about it.
For the pinging, I assume your truck has the kegger intake? Might wanna take a peek down the throttle bores, see if you have oil pooling in there..... Common problem with the two-piece intake manifolds....

It came back once it cooled down I checked last night. I'll take a look down the TB later today. I did notice that when I'm shifting into neutral it doesn't always show it's selected in the gear selection indicator.... Is there an adjustment on the tranny for that or is that something that's wearing out in the steering column?

Should I tighten the front band and see if that helps? Also re the pinging I'll look down the TB but also looking at the records I don't think the 02 sensors have ever been replaced... I'm thinking that could make a difference on power?
O2 sensors will have some affect on power, and if they are original, sure wouldn't hurt to replace them. NTK or Denso sensors only though please. The bosch fellers just don't play nice.
You could do a fluid/filter change, and check band adjustment, but, not sure that would really make much of a difference.
