it idles fine, but the minute I goto put into drive it just dies! I was on the freeway and went to accelerate and my rpms jumped from halfway to full then back, almost like a hiccup, or air bubble or something got pushed through, hell I don't know!! Lol.

Does it slam into gear, and stall like dumping the clutch on a manual trans?

 

Does it throw any codes? If it does that'll narrow it down.

 

IN neutral it's fine, drive it's doesn't slam into gear it goes smoothly but it dies right off the bat! I tried to see if it would stay on in reverse, with e brake on, no foot brake, I put into reverse and I jerked into gear.
I've so far cleaned the throttle flaps, the tcm, and the idle went up but that's all. Nothing new it still dies even if I let it warm up for 20-30 mins in neutral.

Here's a detailed breakdown to read codes without a reader: (AutoZone will read them for free if you can drive to them)

1. Ensure the vehicle is off and the key is removed.
2. Insert the key into the ignition.
3. Turn the ignition to the "ON" position, then back to "OFF" twice, and then back to "ON" a third time. Leave it in the "ON" position.
4. Observe the odometer display. The check engine light codes will appear as a series of numbers and letters, typically starting with "P", "B", "C", or "U", followed by four numbers.
5. Record the codes. Write down each code as it appears, as the display will cycle through all stored codes.
6. Turn the ignition off.

After obtaining the codes, you can refer to an OBD-II code list (available online or in repair manuals) to understand what each code signifies

 

Thank you for responding I so appreciate it. I was able to get a code reader and there aren't any codes. I bought a new fuel pump, I stalled it and still the same issue. I'll try the code thing with ignition today and let you know what happens. Thank you all for your quick responses. 😊

 

do not know if you fixed this yet but i had an issues awhile back (Like 2021 i think before i started driving my 2000 durango daily where the IAC valve (Idle Air Control) acted up and it would die when putting it in gear, idle seemed fine in N and Park but not in Drive Now that I think of it I never replaced it just cleaned it real good.
