Default reverse lights and wiring diagram

Hey,
This is my first post, but having a problem. My reverse lights won't work. Have replaced the lights and the fuse. The fuse blows as soon as you turn the engine on, before you even turn the lights on. hoping to find a wiring diagram to be able to trace the wire, but would appreciate any good ideas.

Thanks

I see this is an old post, but I am currently having the same problem with my 2000 Dodge Durango. Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to DF
Are you also blowing the fuse too. If not, What is the engine size. This way we know what type of transmission you have.

Check your neutral safety switch and the harness that it connects to it ... i have seem several 98-00 (mine included) that the harness melts over time from the heat produced from the transmission. There are 3 wires going into it... center one is the gear sense wire and the 2 outers wires are for the reverse lights... its possible the wires could have melted together and causing the fuse to blow....

@master tech: Thanks for the welcome. Yes, the fuse is blowing as soon as I turn the key. It is the 5.9L engine if that helps.
@Old_School: I will try to find that. In case I don't get to it before I come back here, where is it located on the transmission?

Thanks to all for replying so quickly.

On mine it was located on the left side close to the front.. yours being a 2000 there where more than one trans used.. let us know what motor you have and we can ID the trans and tell you alittle better where it is

If you blowing the fuse, Then you have a short in the circuit. Have you had any work done to the truck?
