Default Removing the Resonator for better tone?

Hi All,

Has anyone here removed the huge resonator from the 2004 Durango (Hemi) exhaust? I am wondering if doing this will give me a deeper exhaust tone, without creating obnoxious vibrations in the cabin. If I have the windows up, I would like it to remain fairly quiet, but also be able to hear more of a rumble (on exceleration) if I had the windows down.

My father-in-law has a 2003 Ram with a Hemi, with the stock muffler (didn't come with a resonator). The only change he made was to have the muffler's single exit tee off into two separate pipes - for dual look. I like the way this setup sounds, but I don't know what vibration/noise would be created in the Durango.

I can always put it back on if I don't like the results, but I was just checking since I'm sure I am not the only person to have thought this.

Thanks.

If im not mistaken there are 2 mufflers on the 04's. I dont think there is a resonator anywhere in the exhaust. Unless your thinking of the Cats that are on the end of both Y pipes.....

Yep I checked with a buddy of mine and he says that there are 2 mufflers on the 04's for sound deadning. One of the charicter traits of the new Durango is that it is supposed to hav a quiet ride. Im curious to see what it would sound like without that big ole canister in line there though. If you do it let me know how it sounds

I am having my resonator removed on Monday morning. I will let you all know how it sounds. Also, I have seen some posts about dual exhausts on the 2004 Durango Limited. How is this being done? The Exhaust Shop indicated that there was stuff in the way...I know anything can be done with time and money...but why would they be so hesitant to do this work?

I guess that could be...however, I wouldn't consider them to be that new.

If anyone has some pics on a dual exhaust for the 2004 Dodge Durango Limited with HEMI, please post a link or some pics. I am very interested...

OK...I just had the resonator removed on my 2004 Dodge Durango Limited Hemi...what a let down. It was such little difference that I have already committed to a dual magnaflow with x-pipe order and will have it installed next Saturday, August 7. I know this will sound awesome for sure.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND REMOVING THE RESONATOR IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR MORE SOUND. I don't even know why Dodge bothered putting the resonator on the Hemi...doesn't make enough of a difference.
