Ok I got the part numbers for the performance Ignition I put on my truck.

MSD 8.5mm Wires #32189
MSD Blaster Coil #8228
Accel Distributor Cap #120329
Accel Distributor Rotor #130328
Accel OEM Adapter to Coil #140021AH

I had to use some Accel parts because MSD and Mallory don't make them yet.

The truck starts and runs like a champ! Im going to try to gap the Champion Truck Plugs .005 more to handle the new spark without fouling. I will post the results later. These are OEM replacement parts and will bolt up to OEM perfectly.

 

Gap has been great when using the Champion Truck Plugs. I accually when down to .044 as it seems to run better.

I installed all this tonight. I can tell a difference. Will this help with Gas mileage?

 

Power and gas mileage should increase if you can keep your foot out of it.

The last plugs I installed were gapped at .041/.042 and they run smooth.

why are you calling it a lemon? if there is something wrong with it fix that first

and the 4.7 doesnt have a coil - distributor - plug set up, it is coil on plug, so not much you can do with the ignition setup just keep a fresh set of copper core champion plugs gapped to .040 in it and you will be good

please forgive me for being a rookie at all of this, but on your list of parts are everything NEEDED for a routine tuneup?

I know I need plugs, wires, and distributor cap but I'm not sure about the:
MSD Blaster Coil #8228
Accel OEM Adapter to Coil #140021AH

Are these 2 needed for just routine maintenance?

Again, I'm handy on working on things but this is the first tuneup I've done on this vehicle. (98 Durango with the 5.2L 4wd)

 

Those are for performance value. Those are not needed for a regular maintenance. Copper plugs, brass rotor/dist, good set of wires, and other usual items will be fine.

 

dont for get to plug the vent on the cap. i use JB-weld. keeps moisture out.
