Stalling, Later Battery dead.
Ok Initially I had no clue where to start, I was going to leave for work, My '99 durango would start fine but had to hold gas peddle down to keep running, or it'ld stall. I had no time to really look at anything. I thought about problem all day at work, Trying to figure out where to start. the only thing that caught my eye was that the battery charge was lower than normal..., anyway, get home, (10 hours later), to start into it, Battery is completly drained. What drained my Battery? I'm sure thats the problem. What are tips & tricks for testing what part might be bad. I am very competent at repairs only problem is I do them by trial & error, trying to "find" the problem, I don't have THAT kind of time right now I need it fixed yesterday, I need a direction, & confirmation of my Haunches. PLEASE help, Am new to forum BTW

RE: Stalling, Later Battery dead.
Were you using your lights, radio, etc? I'd say go the alternator route autozone will tell you if its good or not.
*EDIT*
Oh and I know when I have left my lights on and killed the battery it would not stay on after a jump without me revving it so maybe i've got some problems too or it's just another Dodge problem...

RE: Stalling, Later Battery dead.
I turned eveything off, was gone all day, it was dead when came back, It would start just fine that morning, just wouldn't stay running without keeping foot on gas.. (The alt. check They can Test it outside of the vehicle correct? Cannot get vehicle to the "Zone")

Yeah you have to take it out for them to test it but it sounds like it's your problem. Also I meant while you were driving did you have those things on? when you have an alt. going out turn off everything electric that you can then your battery only has to get the car started and once it's going fire the plugs... My old shop teacher had to go a few hundred miles like that but it worked.

Ok that makes sense with it running but why did it drain battery whilt it was just sitting there everything off. And it started just fine, if it were just the Alt. not charging the Bat. Once the car was runnin wouldn't it continue to run ? sorry I am ignorant on a few details, never had shop. Thanks for the Patience

RE: Stalling, Later Battery dead.
Well if your battery was low when you shut it off then it would not have enough juice to start back up. It takes a lot of juice to turn the engine over.
Also when I have killed my battery on my D it doesn't want to stay on for nothing I have to keep it at the 1000 rpm mark.

well if it wasnt for the battery thing i'd say it was some kinda sensor on your TB maybe a TPS or map.. when i put my new TB on it did that for like 2 days an me an my bro couldn figure it out, was throwin codes left an right an found out they sent me the wrong map with the TB so all i did was replace that an it was fine.
