FSM on Ebay? Is that service manual?

Thanks Bamboo! Wish me luck, Im going out this evening to get the parts and work on this Sun or Mon. Thanks again.

Anyone else with some hints, tips etc.... please post.
Yes, the service manual. The CD I've heard is pretty awesome since everything is PDF format, and all you have to do is print just the page or pages you need for the garage project. A buddy of mine has one and he just e-mails me when I get stuck and need a section.

Bamboo and you professionals!

I just received the Haynes manual... wow its actually better than the damn Chiltons version more details and actual photos. I am basically reading over it and trying to troubleshoot while I am looking at my engine.

Book says it may be the water pump. I have found instructions for the waterpump replacement and its self explanatory. Anyone with some key points on removal and replacement? Special tools?

Also for some reason I do not see any areas on the book about removal of the fan clutch? I have found engine cooling fan but nothing with a fan clutch. Would be possible for you to send me a .pdf file of this section from your friend? Are there any other pointers on this?

Thanks for everyones help.

Looks like tomorrow will be the day... taking this my Dango to the autocraft shop and do all these myself.

Mission Objectives...

1. Replace fan clutch and water pump. "hopefully fixes the damn roaring/whirring sound... fk!"

2. Change transmission filter and replace fluid. (damn this leaking now... might as well change it all)

3. Rear differential is "now leaking"... going to open it up, replace fluid and stop this damn leak.

Man.... WTF else can go wrong???

Any pointer, guidance or just some good prayers for this Damngo.... LOL

Thanks and everyone have a great safe 4th of July!!!

Mission complete:

Water pump was the main problem, I guess the bearings went out so I replaced both the water pump and fan clutch. All I can say reading the forums and reading the HAYNES book a few times before tackling this job was beneficial. Thanks everyone.

Total time to complete was about 4.5 hours. The most troubling portion of the replacement was actually removing and reinstalling the damn radiator/cooland fan shroud (2 damn screws suck) and reconnecting all the hoses. I clamped off all hoses so not too loose cooland from the reservoir. Only coolant loss was from the initial hose and water pump removal.

After removal of the fan shroud everything was easy. Removal of fan w/ clutch and then removal of the fanbelt. Water pump had 9 bolts and it came off with a little help of a pry bar. Scraping the old gasket came off with some work. Everything put back in reverse. Lastly dont forget to add more coolant when you are complete. Which I did forget.

Next Mission:

Draining of the transmission and changing of the filter.

Rear differential change of fluids.

Hopefully if the price is right, NEW Rancho or Bilstein Shocks.

Looks like I'm too late to get in on this one but for all noise complaints
I use a stethoscope and probe everything until you get to the loudest spot. It works for anything...bad diff-wheel bearings or hub bearing-alternator-p/s pump, a/c comp., trans, etc... If you would have used it at first you would have heard it was loudest at the waterpump.

And we are not stealerships its a DEALERSHIP. They sell and repair cars. They are not trying to steal from you. Cars break down, just like tvs, microwaves and anything else. My only concern is the price Chrysler list for some of their parts?

Does anyone know of a Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep forum similar to this but only posts and replies can be made by real dealership techs?

Now why would you want that? If that's the way most places would say bring it in because that's the bread and butter. It IS a stealership too IMHO I can usually find parts with lifetime warranties for cheaper than OEM parts with whatever warranty is being offered...

sounds like you work at a dealer? Well I have worked in the service department myself(mostly motorcycles) and I can say that in a lot of dealerships, it is not the techs or the techs' work that pisses people off, but they lack of professionalism by the management... trying to change for things that do not need replacing, over charging labor... have you not seen the recent Jiffy Lube scam...

Honestly, I can say I have seen some of this stuff first hand

some dealership tried to convince me a 27k mile Jeep needed a trans flush(not having any trans problems at all!!! and didnt even look at it before suggesting that I should have it done), YET the Jeep engineers my dad works with said that is not part of the scheduled maintence suggested for the vechile... hmm who is right, Jeep engineer or service department at dealership???

One bad experience at a dealership is enough for most people to think poorly of them

Maybe you should look at it from both sides...
