Want to lift my 99 Durango
I have a 1999 Durango 5.9 and I have been looking around for lift kits. I found two a 3 inch body and a 5.5 suspension. I am thinking about doing both but want to know what it'll look like. Has anyone done this yet? I think it would be awesome with those and then some 35 inch MTRs or Swampers. Any comments, thoughts, or questions?
I saw someone with a lift a little shorter than all that I think he is running a 3 inches of suspension and 3 inches of body. I don't remember what size his tires were. I will look around and post it up for you when I find it. I think anything much bigger than all that would look kinda goofy and a little too top heavy to be practical in any off camber situations. I don't know how familiar you are with this kind of stuff but make sure if your going to be using that big of a tire your truck can handle it. Most people regear to get better torque otherwise you may damage driveline components.
Ok here is his truck https://dodgeforum.com/albumphoto.as...ype=2&apage=28
he has a 5.5 in. tuff country lift with a 2 in. torsion lift and 3 inches of body lift he has 35's and said he can fit 38's email him and see if he had to do anything with his drivetrain.

That's cool and I've seen it before. But I thought the Tough COuntry lift was a 5.5 suspension lift by itself and I could still get a 3 inch body lift on top of that? I'm really confused.
With the way that thing looks I would say that your truck would look the same as that if you did the mod you want he has a total lift of 10.5' + 2 more inches from his tires vs stock height so a total of 12.5' if you did not do the torsion bar tightening which is the cheapest lift you would get 10.5' inches over stock clearance but now I'm sure you would want the torsion bars tightened as well.
The tuff country lift is suspension only if that ^ didn't answer your question.

THat's great! So I can get both a 5.5 suspension and a 3 inch body? Good! That means, up she goes as soon as I get the money!!!

Wonder what that kind of gas milage you would decrease while that high in the air?
You would have to change your gear ratio's for that size of tire. Talk about expensive!

We're talking about a Chrysler 360. It's gas mileage already stinks! LOL Total cost is about $3500 - $4000, it's about $2000 for the lift, $700 for the body lift and $1000 to $1500 for the tires. I want Goodyear MTRs but we'll see. It's gonna look freakin cool though!
