over heating

I'm not sure if the Duragno has an electric fan for supporting the AC condensor or not, but if it does..that would be the first place to look.
Second would be at the clutch fan to make sure it's working properly.

well after changing rad cap and thermostat nothing changed but now the a/c compressor is shot for sure its grinding does anyone know how much these cost and how hard are they to replace ?

Check this link. It shows $282 bucks for a replacement remanufactured compressor. I think it may have free S/H.

Wow, I was not aware I doubled posted! Sorry.
I finally got my temperature under control on my R/T. Had to replace the fan clutch. A domestic fan clutch for a Durango with 5.9 ran me over $100!!!!!! Damn, that is enough for me to buy a few of these for most other domestic vehicles. Oh well, this model is designed for severe duty and as my R/T came with the maximum cooling package, might as well buy the best. Funny thing was when I was trying to find the cause of my slight overheating at 220 degrees, the fan seems to work as expected. But when I took it to the shop to let my buddy mechanic look at it, it finally broke down! he was even able to totally stop the fan with his finger while the engine is running. Something I'll never have the courage to do. Also, I give thanks to my electric OEM fan that comes on to assist to try to keep my D from overheating too much.
Now it never goes over 195-200 degrees now. But I will never get used to the fan being very loud initially. Fan is always loud when you take off from a stop. I hope the clutch will break in and not stay locked all the time. Takes over 20-30 minutes of driving to get the fan speed noises to calm down.

I have the same problem on my 2000 SLT Plus. Its the 4.7L though. Ive replaced the fan clutch, rad cap, t stat, and flushed and purged the cooling system with fresh coolant and had the system pressure tested.After about 3 1/2 weeks, I lost about 1/3 of my coolant and it started running hot again. Now Im looking at possibly coolant leaking into a cylinder...... bad head gasket. There are no traces of coolant in the oil. It leaves NO puddles of coolant or any odor of coolant at all. Its really weird. Oh well, gotta love MOPAR!!
