"Does high speed work for me" ... no ... it does not .. the front blower will not work at all ...but the back one works, it just quit out of no where.

I don't think it is your resistor pack then. Go pick up a cheap multimeter and read the thread "electrical diagnosis and testing" at the top of the forum in this section. It will show you how to use the multimeter.

Hey, I just wanted to post that I went through the process of deduction on this one and the only thing that was left to try was the resistor pack. Well, to my happiness ...It worked!!!! After driving to work this morning in 11 degree weather I had to try. Thanks so much for you all!!!!!!!! I can say that the part looked totally different but, everything worked and I picked it up at the dealer for $7.00 out the door.

Thanks again....

Interesting...
Glad to see that it worked for you all the same. Usually when the resistor goes out you still have high speed as the current doesn't travel through the resistor.

one thing I noticed is that last week when it was so cold up here in Michigan that I never took the heat off of high. I do remember though when I turned it down lower it didn't work on the lower speeds. So maybe it went out then??? I'll keep you all informed.

Thanks so much

Default Durango 2001 fan switch for blower

Thanks for the help. The resistor is the issue. Two helpfull hints. (1)It is hard to access the resistor but if you pull it out first you will have less of an issue removing the connector. (2) Once disconnected and before running out to get a new one, check the connections. Use some emery paper or burnishing tool on the resistor connections and clean. Plug it back in and try the fan again prior to re-installing. saved $12.00... Elcheapo

Default keeps on a melting...

OK, i have a 03 durango SLT plus, when i got the durango, it worked fine, then the resistor and plug melted together, i searched around a bit, foud this thread, replaced the resistor and the connector, lasted about a week, then melted again. went to the stealership, luckily had a friend who worked there, and he tested the blower motor, said it was pulling to much. so i shelled out the 120 bucks for a new motor, replaced resistor and connector again and thought, great, problem solved. then it turns out that motor was defective, and pulled to much amps as well, and they were nice, replaced the blower, and gave me a new pigtail and resistor and warrantied it out. and now the problem rises again. connector melted to resistor, and now i work freakin 70 hours a week, and as you can imaginge im sitting here in the middle of texas in the middle of summer, so i said screw it, and put an inline fuse between supply and the high setting, so it blows on high, but thats it. i cannot figure it out. so i turn to you humble dodge forum folks, what could it be?????

oh and i believe the part number for the pig tail connector for the resistor is 05017124AA worked last time

Could be a grounding problem as I've seen this before. The last one I saw was a corroded harness.

Default 2005 Dode Durango Blower Motor???

I've seen great posts for fixing a 2001 Blower MOtor Resistor but I have a 2005 and it is not located in the same place? Does anyone know where to find it? Also, my problem is 2-fold. THe 1st is that the blower only works on high, the 2nd is i do not get any heat to the 1st row behind the driver in any mode (high, medium or low). THe AC works only in High but the heat, not at all.

Welcome To the boards!

You need to post in the 2nd Gen Durango as yours is a 2005. Those guys over there are very helpful and wise.
