Default Diff question?

Hey guys quick question here. I went to get diff fluid (80w90) at dodge and they wanted $15 a quart (not even synth) so I said f*ck that and decided to check out AZ and they're a couple bux a quart. Now I know I need an additive in that diff fluid so can anyone tell me what that additive is, where I can find it, and how much $ is it? I really don't want to give those morons at that stealership any more of my $ because they're a bunch of douches and the only other place to get mopar stuff is to drive into manhattan or take a train and that's not my idea of fun.

when I changed my gear oil, I used 85w140 synthetic. and I had to go to the dealer and pay $8 for and additive. so it's not really that bad. I would never buy oil from them but I no other place around here sold the additive. and I think it's some kind of friction moddifier for posi rear ends.

Maybe if the idiots that work in the parts department weren't a bunch of dumbf*cks then that would be an option. It took them over a half an hour to find me a serpentine belt, diff fluid (the first guy said they were out after a 10 minutes of looking only to have the next guy find it right away and tell me the ridiculous price), and a t-stat which the guy told me he couldn't sell me a 180 because the Durango required a 195 (that went back and forth I told him I don't have my warranty through you anyway so give me what I want *IDIOT*). After all of this I go out to a parking ticket because the dumbsh*ts took so long (I had a half an hour on the meter) when I should have been in and out in 10 minutes or less... [sm=rant.gif]
Oh and there was only one person in front of me and he was out withing 5 minutes..

My 2000 5.9l 4x4 gets Mobil1 75w90 synthetic for the diffs.

It aint cheap. [:'(]

I did add the limited slip additive to my rear (My dealer wants $9+ for the little bottle), even though I was told it MAY not be needed with the Mobil1 75w90 synthetic. "MAY" wasn't good enough for me.

That with 2 gallons of Mopar ATF+4 tends to leave a heafty fluid bill alone. Labor is on top of that.

However, the D runs fine with no issues on the tranny (serviced yearly) at 157,000+ miles so far.

Yes you need the anti slip additive. Approx. $8. The manual says to run 80-90W. I only like Full Synthetics.

I'm about to see. The rear will be cake I hear the front is a PITA though. If you're planning on changing the fluid yourself I heard a great idea on another forum suggesting lowering the spare so that you can sit up while doing the work on the rear.
