Pulling up this old thread but i need to. My AUX outlets work but my Cig does not. I checked all the fuses and the cig is fine but now I'm concerned about the other 4 fuses on the left of the column under the dash. There are supposed to be 4 in there? I only have 2 in there if looking at it i have the 1st and 3rd counting from the dash tword the firewall. What are theses 4 fuses and do they all have to be there? and how the heck do i get my cig lighter working. lol

Well the regular cigarette lighter fuse in the ash tray should be in the regular panel. It could be the lead going to it. Pull it and start testing.
Here are some pic's for the hidden fuss box that might help everyone. Taken from here: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...or-lights.html
Here is my '99's.. Has two fuses back there. I'm sure the '98's are similar to the 99-00. Your guess is as good as mine as to what they control.
My '01 had no fuses back there. Safe to assume they deleted this hidden fuse panel on the 01+ trucks.

OO Thanks. I might have found out what the problem is. I was under the dash (kinda hard to do with my back and neck issues) and have a wire with a weird looking fuse in it going from somewhere in the fuse panel then in the direction of the lighter. So have to trace it out and see what it is. maybe someone wired something up and tied into it. I hate when morons that don't know jack mess with stuff.

Same problem with my 2002 Dakota. I accidentally shorted it and it hasn't worked since. The dash lighter works fine but I need both. I tried to take the console apart but no dice. I did see the conductors feeding the power port socket and had voltage there. I am thinking it is a mechanical problem rather than an electrical problem but using small mirrors I cannot see any visible damage. ??? Shamrock
