Default 99 dodge durango

how do you get the abs speed sensor on the rear axle out to replace it

Its right on top and easy to do. I posted here before on it. Look it up via a search on my posts.

It will take you longer to get under the D and find it than to replace it.

one 10mm bolt and pulls right out

mine had a bracket on it... and it was pretty fragile. becareful pulling it out not to drop anything into the housing and also make sure you dont break the new one on the install...

Is this the only speed sensor? I have a check engine light on because of a speed sensor malfunction and am trying to figure out if this might possibly a fix it at home issue. Supposedly one mechanic told me it was a speed sensor in the transmission? Does that sound right?

there is another in the tranny, this one is responsible for the speedo...

when my rear speed censor went bad only had abs & brake light on, no check engine
