I am wondering if you are referring to 4Lo cause I don't know of any other low gear for the durango since the gearing is D-2-1 (atleast in my 98 durango). More info.

What code are you getting off the check engine light?

Just in case you are the one who emailed me about the how to get the codes, here you go.

Getting Computer Codes

Just cycle the key to the on position 3 times (don't turn the car on). In the readout where the odometer usually displays, your codes will each display for a matter of about 3 seconds each. When the last code has displayed, it will read "done". Pretty nifty. (espepcially if it doesn't have any codes to read)

Here is a link to some codes:

*not sure if they are up to date or still the same but Im sure someone will post it.

RCS426,

I have a 2000 Durango and it still works. I also confirmed (double checked) the code I received with a clerk from Autozone with their tester to make sure its the same digits. They guys I deal with at AutoZone that I deal with here in SA, TX, alway seem to know the right parts for our Durango. Sad thing they have also projected what else might go wrong with it the near future. Like right now I gave them some symptoms of my front end and they say they can order some new upper ball joints. Oh well....

My 2000 Durango did the similar thing. Check engine light came on and transmission was stuck in 1st or 2nd gear. Fortunately my Durango was still under warranty. I'll pull up the paperwork to see what was done. I think it was a governor and one sensor. I will update ya when i get the paperwork pulled out.
