Default Heater Core?

I've noticed that the heater in my 98 Durango takes a very long time to heat up. If I let my D warm up for 10 minutes before I leave, the heater blows warm, but not hot. It may take 20+ minutes of total run time to get hot air. Could this be a problem with the heater core? I don't know much about that kind of thing, so if anyone could point me to the root of the problem, I'd appreciate it. If it is the heater core, I founda heater core from a 99 Durango (same engine size as mine, 5.2L w/ AC), and I was wondering if it would be a suitable replacement for the heater core of my 98 with the 5.2L.

I guess "hot" wasn't really the right word to use, because the air isn't really all that hot. It's no where near as warm as the heat in any of my friends' vehicles.

Wonderful. Thank you. I'll have to stick it out for the remainder of the winter, but as soon as it gets warm enough to actually work outside I'll have to do this.

If it was a bit warmer than 5 degrees out right now, I'd be doing this. Thanks for letting us know that it works well.
