Durango ABS Not Working?
I saw the stuff about aftermarket ABS about 4 years ago, its apparently a mechanical thing instead of the electronic abs used from the factory....

My 01 also has the useless RWABS, and the few times it has activated it felt more to me like the rear wheels simply unlocked, and there was no pumping or pulsing of any kind. My 94 Mustang and 95 SHO both had 4WABS, and I can not imagine why DC would have built an 01 or newer car without it.
Shortly after I bought my Din 03 I asked my local stealership for a quote to add factory 4WABS, and he said it would be better to buy another vehicle since the mod would involve harnesses, computers and such to the tune of $2500-$3000.
I said no thanks. Don

If I were to pull the fuse for ABS, would that throw an error code? We got a lot of snow the other day and I want to experiment and see how effective ABS actually is by locking up the brakes in a parking lot. I think it's over sensitive and goes off prematurely (talking bout the D here), causing longer stops on "unslippery" roads.
So once again the question is, would pulling the ABS fuse throw an error code? And would there be any problems associated in doing this?

My Brake light and Antilock is on on my 99. I think I need shoes in the back. Infact 98% sure, I notice this when I apply the Ebrake when parking. Would this be the only issue or is it something else as posted above?
PJB:
Is your speedo working normally. If not, then you probably need a rear wheel speed sensor which goes on top of the rear diff.
The part is $30-40 and is not hard to install. Sometimes this sensor goes bad and the speedo still works fine.

The abs on my 2000 Durango 4wd does not work. The abs light illuminates on start as designed to indicate that the warning lights work, then goes out as if to show normal system operation with no faults. The problem is the abs does not work at all, the brakes are extremely touchy and even with very light pressure on the pedal will lock up the brakes and throw you forward. Not a great condition for winter driving. I have replaced front rotors and pads as well as adjusted the rear brakes. This vehicle has 4 wheel abs, 2 sensors on the front and one on the rear differential. Has anyone actually fixed this issue? Again, the abs light is off and the abs does not work. If any sensor is bad the abs module should trigger the abs light, I am somewhat suspect the abs module is bad but I don't want to start throwing parts at it to eliminate individual abs components.
