You replace the rears with a 1 inch lowering shackle for a chevy, but it actually raises the back 2 inches. There aren't any shackles up front. To raise the front you "crank" the torsion bars which lifts the front.

Arent there 4 shackles on the rear end?

So if i put a two inch lowering shackle would that lift it 3 inches?

Are you positive thata one inch lifts it two inches? I would really hate to spend 50 bucks andnnot be right.

Thanks, Robert

On the stock D, there are only shackles on the rear of the leaf.the front of the leaf spring bolts directly to the frame rail. You will be replacing the stock shackles with lowering shakles.

I don't know how much a 2 inch lowering shackle would raise the back. Remember that the rear of the durango is already 2 inches higher than the front. You hsould only raise the torsion bars 2 inches, so any lift in the rear more than 2 inches will increase the rake of your D. Adding 4 inches to the back, would make the back 4 inches higher than the front.

I do not have shackles on my D, but I will be getting a set when I finish school and have time and money. I have done a lot of reading here and everybody says that a 1 inch drop shackle will give a 2 inch lift in the rear. Do a search for "torsion shackle" or just "shackle" and see what comes up. A lotta info about what ppl are using to get some lift.

My advice: Go to 4wheelparts.com they got a pretty good 3" suspension lift for around 800 bucks, not too bad really, it's a a full suspension lift in the front and an add-a-leaf in the bag. It's what I'm saving up to get, b/c my springs in the back are fine, no sag at all, so it should be all good.

I have the T/S lift as well as the 3" body lift on my 2000 Durango SLT 4X4. I am running Micky Thompson Baja Claw Radial 33-12.50/15's on stock 15X8 rims. The only rubbing I have found are on the front frame rails at full articulation. And then I can only tell because of the little clean spots on the rails. Here are some pictures of Stock, T/S lift and body lift. If I can help, please let me know. Ted

Aight, thanks man, I'll let you know if I run into any problems, I probaly will just put the suspension lift on andmaybe the body lift as well. I've thought about it, 6" of lift looks mean, but mine's a daily driver, so I don't know if I wanna put that much of a rake on the drive shaft, so I definitely on't get the 6" suspension lift, but maybe the 3" plus a 3" bodylift, I ain't sure yet, doesn't really matter anyway 'til I save up the money though, ya know?

Mine's a daily driver as well. I do take it Off Roading quite a bit though. 4 Wheel drive should be 4 wheeled. Thanks for the compliment.

I plan on doing the body lift and T/S lift this summer, and I like how yours turned out. Looks just right with the 33's on it as well.

when doing the body lift, did find any of your wires to be to short and have to be extended. I'm reading up on body lifts and a lot of companies in their instruction books say that wires have to be extended. Just wondering if thats for body lifts in general, or specifc to Durangos

Deerang, Thanks for the compliment. The body kit I got from Advanced Performance had all the stuff needed to extend any needed wires. Almost any car has wiring that runs along, or attaches to the frame. When you install a body lift, Some of those have to be relocated or extended. Almost everything I had to extend were body grounds. Hope this helps and good luck. Let me know if I can be of any help. Ted
