Found on the net...
A bad wheel bearing will typically make grinding, whining or squealing noises, and you can often feel the looseness or roughness if you raise the suspension and rotate the wheel by hand. Worn wheel bearings should be replaced, because failure may cause the wheel to come off the vehicle.

Yes, the bad wheel bearing(s) will sound like your car is going to fall apart because it literally is about to. Here's the result of a bad wheel bearing... I hope you can tell which one is bad...

sounds like your wheel bearing to me....
a bad bearing if cought in an early stage will only cause movement....no noise......
the noise will show up at a later date if the bearing goes unfixxed

though i have never had a bearing actually fall apart to where the wheel fell off...and ive driven on bad wheel bearings for more then 10,000 miles.....by the time i fixed it i had about 5 inches of back and forth play on the tire[&:]....but never fell off
personally i dont see how a wheel can fall off from a bad bearing....
