Default head gasket failing? why do I doubt it again

My girlfriend has a 2-door1998Neon (in really good shape too)and just 2 months ago her parents claimed the head gasket was blown. They took it to a shop and the mechanic told them there was nothing wrong with it. Now they are claiming that it is still ok at the moment, but they want to hurry up and sell it quick because it spoke to them and said it was planning on going out next month or something. I want to know if there is any way to know ahead of time if the head gasket is gonna go or if they are just trying to get rid of the car again because they for some reasonhate it so much?

Most common signs of a leaking or blown headgasket are oil in coolant or coolant in oil.

agreed! If they try tosell it somebody will be getting a pretty nice Neon with nothing wrong with itfor a steal. I would buy it myself and get rid of the one I got if I had the time and money.
